WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man has been arraigned in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Worcester that killed a woman and left her brother critically injured.

Twenty-nine-year-old Daniel Depew, of Ayer, was arraigned Monday in Worcester District Court on charges including motor-vehicle homicide, drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Depew was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

Prosecutors say Depew was drunk when he struck 46-year-old George Burdick and 48-year-old Gina Burdick shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday. The siblings were unloading groceries outside George Burdick’s home at the time of the accident. Neighbors say Gina Burdick was dragged 100 yards.

Depew, who has two prior drunken driving convictions, was apprehended by a Worcester Polytechnic Institute officer after fleeing the scene. His lawyer did not comment.
