DUNDALK, Md. (AP) - Baltimore County Police say the parents of a month-old boy who died after he was left in a hot bath have been indicted.

Twenty-five-year-old Eugene Buchta of Fallston and 25-year-old Rachael Anne Johnson of Dundalk were charged with this week first-degree child abuse and other offenses.

Investigators say on July 2, Buchta was giving his son a bath in a small tub when he left the infant. Police say when Buchta returned, the child was submerged, and when he took the baby out of the tub, he noticed the water was hot.

Authorities say Buchta and Johnson put ointment on the infant. The next day, police say, the child was unresponsive and the parents called 911.

Officers say the infant died after being taken to the Johns Hopkins Burn Center.
