RENO, Nev. (AP) - A longtime supporter of the arts in northern Nevada and co-founder of Reno’s Artown festival has died.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (https://tinyurl.com/nlfre32) Tim Jones died of a heart attack early Monday morning at the age of 66.

Jones helped launch the monthlong Artown festival in Reno two decades ago.

Artown Executive Director Beth Macmillan says he was a “profound and passionate person for the arts” who will be forever missed.

Jones served as a member of the Nevada Council for the Arts from 2001-2013, the last six years as board chairman. From 1980-87, he was director emeritus of university arts at the University of Nevada, Reno and station manager at KUNR Radio.

Arrangements for a memorial service are pending.
