JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) - Town of Jackson officials are calling on Walgreens to stabilize the hillside where the West Broadway store is located before the corporation proceeds with plans to tear down the building.

The Jackson Hole News and Guide reports (https://bit.ly/1O5IxRH ) a Walgreens spokesman says the company has decided to demolish the drugstore that has sat vacant since the 2014 landslide as soon as November.

Walgreens hasn’t yet provided a plan for stopping the portion of the landslide on the corporation’s property. Town Manager Bob McLaurin says Walgreens must provide a remediation plan before the town will issue a demolition permit.

Town officials are currently in discussions over how to pay for a $10 million project to stabilize the western part of the slide.
