WESTFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A Westfield State University search committee has chosen three finalists to succeed embattled ex-president Evan Dobelle.

The finalists announced Tuesday night are Damian Fernandez, head of Ethical Culture Fieldston School in New York City; Ramon Torrecilha, a professor and former administrators at California State University, Dominguez Hills; and Linda Vaden-Goad, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Framingham State University in Massachusetts.

They will visit the campus separately beginning Monday. Trustees are to vote in mid-October.

Dobelle resigned in 2013 amid a state investigation of his spending of school funds. In April, he agreed to pay $185,000 to settle the state investigation, and also dropped a lawsuit against Westfield State over his ouster. He also withdrew a separate lawsuit against state and university officials.

Elizabeth Preston has served as interim president.
