DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (AP) - A 52-year-old Denham Springs woman has been stabbed in her front yard, and Denham Springs police took a suspect into custody shortly after.

Police spokesman Glenn Lemoine says the woman got into an argument Tuesday about 7:30 a.m. inside her home with 52-year-old Kent Scott, who is believed to be her on-and-off boyfriend. Eventually, he says, the altercation led them outside, where he stabbed her multiple times.

The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1VlvIXD ) Lemoine said the woman was taken to an area hospital, where she died. Police are withholding her name until her family is notified.

Meanwhile, Lemoine says Scott’s expected to be booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a murder charge. It’s unknown if he has an attorney. Police aren’t sure what sparked the fight, which remains under investigation.
