NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (AP) - Police say a woman and her daughter were found dead after a house fire in western Wisconsin and a 37-year-old suspect has been arrested in Texas.

New Richmond Police Chief Mark Samelstad says the bodies of 30-year-old Courtney Bradford and her 10-year-old daughter Jasmine were found on separate floors of the house.

The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1EDajl0) reports Samelstad declined to say how the Bradfords died, but said authorities are conducting a homicide investigation.

A suspect, believed to be an ex-boyfriend of Bradford’s, was arrested in El Paso, Texas. Authorities say the woman’s car was recovered at an airport in Iowa.

Fire crews were called to the home around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after getting a report of smoke.

Police Lt. Jerry Cody says it was “an isolated incident” at the home.
