ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - An Albuquerque man has been indicted for allegedly holding a woman against her will in her apartment and torturing her for six days.

New Mexico prosecutors say 54-year-old Richard Michael Beltran is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond.

Beltran was arrested Aug. 14 on suspicion of false imprisonment, aggravated battery against a household member and attempted sexual penetration.

A criminal complaint say the 45-year-old woman and Beltran had an ongoing relationship but he allegedly beat and choked her until she lost consciousness several times, attempted to rape her and threatened to kill her.

Authorities say the woman managed to slip away after Beltran got drunk and fell asleep.

A neighbor heard her pleas for help and called 911. Beltran fled the scene but was arrested two days later.
