BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating the cause of a collision between a commercial lobster boat and a schooner carrying tourists in Maine.

Coast Guard spokesman Kenneth Stuart tells The Portland Press Herald (https://bit.ly/1KKm36y ) the two vessels struck each other shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday near Squirrel Island in Boothbay Harbor.

Officials say the impact sheared off the stern of the schooner, called the Lazy Jack, but it didn’t take on water. The lobster boat, Andra and Donna, sustained scrapes to its bow.

None of the four passengers and two crew members on the schooner or the two lobstermen on the boat were injured. Coast Guard Petty Officer Kurt Hein says they were evacuated onto a nearby commercial vessel.

Stuart says it’s unclear which vessel might have initiated the collision.
