COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The uncle of a 27-year-old man who was slain last year and dumped beneath a Columbus bridge said he hopes his nephew’s killer “rots in hell” following his sentencing hearing.

The Columbus Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/1Qa4soM ) 35-year-old Demar Hope was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for the Jan. 14, 2014 death of Lorenzo Mason.

Prosecutors say Mason went to Hope’s Harvard Avenue home to sell him marijuana, but a disagreement ended with Hope shooting Mason.

Mason’s body was found under the East 5th Avenue bridge five days after the shooting.

Hope was indicted for aggravated murder, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole, but his charge was downgraded following a plea agreement.

Hope pleaded guilty in August to voluntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence charges.
