PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a documented gang member wanted in Texas has been arrested in Arizona.

U.S. Marshals Service officials say 31-year-old Esteban Castorena was arrested Tuesday after a barricade situation at a Phoenix home.

They say he was wanted by El Paso police for burglary with the intent to commit another felony.

Police responded to a West El Paso motel about a burglary call on Aug. 15 and say a man inside a motel room had multiple stab wounds.

Police say Castorena was involved in an argument with a rival gang member earlier and allegedly broke into the victim’s motel room and stabbed him several times.

Authorities located Castorena at a Phoenix residence and he eventually surrendered.

He’s been booked into the Maricopa County Jail and awaiting extradition to El Paso.
