CHICO, Texas (AP) - About a dozen homes in a rural area of North Texas were evacuated as a precaution after a fire broke out at a natural gas facility. There have been no reports of injuries.

The fire broke out early Thursday morning at the Targa Gas Plant. The plant is west of Chico, a small town about 55 miles northwest of Fort Worth. A plant spokesperson said the fire was inside of a building with three compressors. Two workers were at the plant when the fire started.

Jimmy Oxford of the Targa Gas Plant told Dallas-Fort Worth television station KTVT (https://cbsloc.al/1Nclq7z ) that they activated their emergency shut down and plan to let the fire burn out.

Residents living within a one-mile radius were told to leave as a safety measure.
