SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Gov. Kate Brown has appointed two new members to her administration.

The Statesman Journal reports (https://stjr.nl/1hBNzY6 ) that Brown announced that Jerry Waybrant will be acting director of the Department of Human Services. Fred Steele was appointed as the state’s long-term care ombudsman.

Waybrant previously managed DHS’s child welfare programs statewide. He is taking over for director Erinn Kelley-Siel, whose last day is Friday.

Steele will advocate for system-wide improvements to help Oregon’s vulnerable residents. His appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
