LA PINE, Ore. (AP) - Residents of La Pine are being advised to boil their water as a precaution after a vehicle hit a fire hydrant, causing a break on the water main.

Officials said Thursday that the advisory is expected to last at least two days.

City workers are testing the water to determine whether contaminants infiltrated the water supply.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office says people who get their water from the City of La Pine should boil water for at least one minute and allow it to cool before drinking, brushing teeth, preparing food and baby formula, making ice and cleaning counters.
