BASTROP, La. (AP) - The Morehouse Parish School Board has named an interim superintendent after moving the current superintendent, George Noflin, to an advisory role.

The News-Star reports (https://tnsne.ws/1iiC60j ) the board Tuesday chose Hazel Sellers, elementary supervisor for the district, to act as interim superintendent until June 30. District 4 Board member Rick Hixon says the board, ideally, could have a new superintendent named by April 1 so he or she has time to work with Sellers.

Meanwhile, Hixon says Noflin will serve until his contract expires June 30. He says he doesn’t think the community embraced Noflin as well as it should have. As a result, he says the morale in the system is very low and the board felt like it was time to move in a different direction.
