SALEM, Ore. (AP) - A 24-year-old woman is facing sentencing for inviting an Alabama man she met online to her to home and then hitting him in the head with a baseball bat.

The Statesman Journal reports (https://stjr.nl/1OdcFHx) Haley Fox pleaded guilty on Tuesday to second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. She will be sentenced Sept. 30.

Fox told police Samuel Campbell sent her $3,000 over the course of about 18 months. She said he started asking for the money back, so she gave into his repeated requests to visit. She said she led him on and allowed him to think they’d have a relationship together.

A probable cause statement says Fox stood behind Campbell and used a metal bat to strike him in the head three times.
