CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say seven people were exposed to an unknown substance following a chemical spill in a lab at Cal State, Channel Islands.

A statement from the university in Camarillo says five students and two employees were among those exposed Tuesday afternoon in Aliso Hall.

Ventura County Fire Department Capt. Mike Lindbery says the seven showed mild symptoms but none were hospitalized. The types of chemicals involved were not immediately known.

The Ventura County Star newspaper reports (https://bit.ly/1LNFvzB ) campus police evacuated the building and assisted firefighters.

Lindbery says the spill occurred in a refrigerator that was used to store chemicals.

The building will be closed through Wednesday afternoon as a private contractor cleans up the spill.
