REDGRANITE, Wis. (AP) - Village officials say Redgranite Quarry Park in Waushara County will remain open following the deaths of three people there this summer.

Post-Crescent Media (https://post.cr/1h9Kaz2 ) reports the Redgranite Village Board had a special meeting Tuesday that was prompted by calls to close the park. After a closed session, board members said the quarry would stay open along with more warning signs and increased fines for violations.

Board members didn’t hold a vote on whether to keep open the quarry. Specific measures will be decided at a future meeting.

In going into closed session, officials cited an exemption in Wisconsin’s open meetings law that allows meetings for discussing ongoing or likely lawsuits. Board member Paul Wertz says the board isn’t aware of any ongoing litigation.
