FREDONIA, Ariz. (AP) - Campgrounds on the northernmost district of the Kaibab National Forest will be closing in a couple of weeks for the winter season.

The Jacob Lake and DeMotte campgrounds on the North Kaibab Ranger District are closing Oct. 15.

The Big Springs Cabin rentals will stay open until Nov. 30 unless harsh weather forces an earlier closure.

The Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center will open later and close earlier on weekends only from Oct. 17 to Dec. 13.

People with firewood-cutting permits for the ranger district have until Nov. 30 to use them. The permits will be sold again in May.
