MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs is celebrating its 70th anniversary of service with a ceremony in Montgomery.

Officials say the celebration is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the auditorium of the state Capitol building.

Organizers say the program will include the unveiling of donated art and a reception. Officials say a work of art titled “A Grateful Nation Remembers” by Alabama artist Dean Mosher will be installed in the east wing of the first floor of the Capitol building.

Organizers say department Commissioner Admiral Clyde Marsh will be the event’s keynote speaker.
