Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump says Russian President Vladimir Putin deserves an “A” for leadership, which Mr. Trump says is comparatively better than where President Obama is standing.

“I think in terms of leadership, he’s getting an ‘A,’ and our president is not doing too well. They did not look good together,” Mr. Trump said on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” Tuesday evening.

Mr. Obama and Mr. Putin met Monday at a United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York City.

“Putin is now taking over what we started, and he’s going into Syria, and he frankly wants to fight ISIS, and I think that’s a wonderful thing,” Mr. Trump said, referring to the Islamic State terrorist group.

Host Bill O’Reilly said once Mr. Putin goes in and fights the group on behalf of Syrian President Bashar Assad, “Putin runs Syria. He owns it; he’ll never get out. Never.”

“All right, OK, fine,” Mr. Trump said. “I mean, you know, we can be in Syria. Do you want to run Syria? Do you want to own Syria? I want to rebuild our country.”
