NEW YORK (AP) - A fast-moving fire has engulfed a vacant church on Staten Island.

Fire officials say more than 100 firefighters responded to the House of Miracles church on Delafield Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses tell the Staten Island Advance (https://bit.ly/1O7uf34 ) that the fire spread quickly from the back of the building before engulfing the church’s steeple, which collapsed.

The FDNY says the blaze was brought under control at 4:30 a.m.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
