AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - A former employee with the Pantex Federal Credit Union in the Texas Panhandle faces up to 30 years in prison for stealing $826,000.

Dorothy Stegall Barnes pleaded guilty Tuesday to embezzling from a federally insured credit union.

The 56-year-old Barnes, who’s also known as Dorothy Stegall Newman, could be fined $1 million when she’s sentenced later this year in Amarillo.

Prosecutors say Barnes formerly was the assistant vice president of teller operations at the Pantex Federal Credit Union in Borger.

Borger is 40 miles northeast of Amarillo.
