FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) - A Franklin woman has been indicted after police say she had an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old boy she met through the church where her husband is a youth minister.

Franklin Police Department spokesman Lt. Charles Warner tells local media outlets that 25-year-old Ariel Stevenson surrendered to authorities on Friday after having been indicted earlier this month by a Williamson County grand jury on charges of statutory rape and sexual exploitation of a minor.

Police say Stevenson met the 17-year-old through Franklin Christian Church, where her husband, Jeremy Stevenson, works as a student minister.

The church’s lead minister Zach Stewart says he does not believe any illicit acts took place on church property.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Ariel Stevenson.
