CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - A disbarred attorney and former police officer in Iowa has pleaded guilty to selling counterfeit currency to an undercover agent.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the northern district of Iowa says 43-year-old Brian Loren Stowe, of Waverly, entered his plea Wednesday in federal court in Cedar Rapids. His agreement with prosecutors means he pleaded guilty to one count of dealing in counterfeit money.

Prosecutors say Stowe sold $900 in counterfeit currency for $250 in real currency to an undercover law enforcement agent in February.

Stowe was disbarred in 2013 after he was convicted of drug and forgery charges.

Stowe faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
