MIDLAND, Texas (AP) - Omaha, Nebraska, digital media executive Jeffrey Shabram has been named as the new publisher of the Midland Reporter-Telegram.

Hearst Newspapers announced that Shabram will be responsible for the performance of the chain’s West Texas newspapers, including the Reporter-Telegram and the Plainview Herald and two weeklies, the Muleshoe Journal and Canyon News. He succeeds Mike Distelhorst, who is now publisher of three eastern North Carolina dailies.

Shabram is scheduled to take up his duties Monday. He comes to Midland from his position as senior director of Digital and corporate director of Digital Agency Services in the Berkshire Hathaway Digital Services Division. Before that, he was vice president of Midlands Newspapers from 2010 to 2014 and director of digital at the Omaha World-Herald from 2006 to 2010.
