ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) - A man has been cited after a garbage truck he was driving tipped over and landed on a car, seriously injuring a Vermont woman.

University of Vermont Medical Center says 53-year-old Dorothy Watson, of Essex, remained in critical condition Tuesday.

Essex police and fire departments say a Casella Waste Systems truck rolled over the silver BMW she was driving on Route 128, trapping her in the car. First responders called heavy wreckers to move the garbage truck and extricate her.

David Rochon, of Fairfax, was driving the truck at the time of the incident. He was not injured.

Police say Rochon has been cited with gross negligent operation with serious injuries resulting.

Essex Police Chief Brad LaRose says authorities are investigating the role of the truck’s speed and weight.
