GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a man fatally stabbed in a confrontation with another man near the Glendale Civic Center was a 57-year-old transient.

Police say Alex Littlejohn died near the courthouse steps early Monday.

An initial investigation finds the man who survived had serious stab wounds apparently inflicted by Littlejohn.

Police Sgt. Robert William said Tuesday that the man was in stable condition following surgery. His name has not been released.

City News Service reports detectives haven’t yet been able to interview the surviving victim, but police say no other suspects are being sought.

The wounded man managed to walk to the nearby police headquarters after he was stabbed.
