MONROE, La. (AP) - Prevailing Faith Christian Academy has been removed from the Louisiana Scholarship Program and is reportedly set to close immediately.

Louisiana Department of Education spokesman Barry Landry said the Monroe school was notified about its removal from the voucher program Monday, and a parent notified The News-Star (https://tnsne.ws/1P5nVs5) on Tuesday that the school will be closed immediately. Forty students attend the school.

Nina Hunter, who is PFCA’s attorney, told the newspaper the move is a devastating move for the school because all students are scholarship recipients.

In August 2014, PFCA was the only participating school in the Louisiana Scholarship Program to have significant findings in a financial audit.

Landry says the state removed the voucher program due to the gross financial irresponsibility demonstrated by Prevailing Faith Christian Academy.
