MILWAUKEE (AP) - Two Milwaukee police officers are in court where they are taking on the gun store that sold a firearm to the man who shot them.

The officers are suing for negligence and want financial compensation from owners of the former Badger Guns store in West Allis, a Milwaukee suburb.

Officer Graham Kunisch was shot in the face and lost an eye and Officer Bryan Norberg was shot in the head by a man they confronted in 2009 for riding a bike on the sidewalk.

The officers’ civil lawsuit in Milwaukee County Circuit Court accuses Badger Guns of selling a weapon to a man they knew was buying the firearm for someone else. Julius Burton was convicted in the shooting and is serving 80 years in prison.
