DETROIT (AP) - Officials say more than a dozen patients at a Detroit hospital have contracted salmonella and authorities are working to identify the source.

Henry Ford Hospital says in a statement there’s no evidence that the illnesses reported last week are food-related. It says 14 patients were affected and those still hospitalized are being kept isolated as a precaution. The hospital says no new cases have been found this week.

Salmonella often is transmitted by food. A salmonella infection can cause diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps after exposure.
