BUTLER, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania courthouse has been briefly locked down after a woman was punched following a custody hearing.

Butler County Detective Scott Roskovski says Wednesday’s incident was initially reported as a man punching his ex-girlfriend. Their 2-year-old child is at the center of their custody dispute.

But the detective says interviews now suggest the man’s current wife punched the ex-girlfriend after the ex-girlfriend called her a name.

The courthouse about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh was briefly locked down to keep the man from leaving.

Roskovski says the ex-girlfriend and her 18-year-old daughter gave “inconsistent” statements about who threw the punch, and the man’s wife told Roskovski she was to blame.

She’ll be mailed a charge of simple assault.
