FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Authorities are investigating after they say a body was found burning in a grass fire just off a road in a Fort Worth field.

According to Fort Worth police, patrol officers were investigating the fire near Lake Arlington around 11:50 p.m. Monday, when they realized a body was on fire. Police spokeswoman Lt. Kathryn Rowell said the “victim was burned beyond recognition.”

A spokesman for the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office said the body appears to be a female.
