LAFAYETTE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say that the man accused of raping and killing a Columbus, Georgia woman in July also raped her in December 2014.

Local media outlets report that Sgt. Clay Tucker of the Valley, Alabama police department testified Tuesday in Chambers County, Alabama that 45-year-old Stacey D. Gray is being charged with the 2014 sexual assault of 25-year-old Renee Eldridge because his DNA matches the DNA collected after Eldridge’s rape last year.

Gray has already been charged with capital murder, kidnapping and capital murder rape in Eldridge’s death.

The woman’s body was found July 7 in Osanippa Creek in eastern Alabama after she went missing during the July 4 holiday weekend. Authorities believe Eldridge died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Gray.
