PRENTISS, Miss. (AP) - Patsy Speights, retired editor and general manager of the Prentiss Headlight weekly newspaper, has died.

She is a past president of the Mississippi Press Association and was inducted into the MPA Hall of Fame in 2012, the year she retired.

MPA director Layne Bruce says Speights died at home Tuesday after a lengthy illness. Her age was not immediately available.

Funeral services were pending at Saulters-Moore Funeral Home in Prentiss.

Sid Salter, a syndicated Mississippi columnist and another past president of the MPA, has described Speights as a “feisty, fearless small-town editor.”
