VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Virginia Beach police say a teenager stole a Hampton Roads Transit bus after the driver refused to take him as a passenger.

Police say the mini-bus equipped for disabled riders was stolen Friday morning after the male teen boarded and demanded a ride. The driver said that wouldn’t be possible. When the driver got off the bus, the suspect got behind the wheel and drove away. He stopped after a short distance, jumped off the bus and fled on foot. Police say he was wearing only blue jeans and appeared to be in his mid- or late-teens.

The bus was carrying one passenger, who was evaluated by emergency medical personnel but was uninjured.
