DEADWOOD, S.D. (AP) - The Black Hills city of Deadwood is celebrating its best hotel occupancy since 2006.

The Rapid City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1PPA16q ) that the city’s lodging properties in July had an occupancy rate of 76.45 percent, up 3.55 percent over July 2014. The figures come from the Deadwood City Finance Office and follow solid gaming data for July.

Deadwood Gaming Association executive director Mike Rodman says it’s great to see Deadwood’s hotel occupancy back to 2006 levels.

The association says that Deadwood’s Days of ‘76 Rodeo and Celebration reported record attendance this year, and Deadwood Alive’s Street Shootout Re-enactments attracted record crowds in July.
