JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) - Last month’s death of a Rock County Jail inmate is set for an outside review.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that reports related to 39-year-old Dante Tyreese Wilson’s death have been turned over to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office for an independent review.

According to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, Wilson died at a hospital in the early morning of Aug. 18 about an hour after a jailer was alerted Wilson was having trouble breathing.

The Janesville Gazette (https://bit.ly/1O1D5Og ) reports Sheriff Robert Spoden says he’s confident in the objectivity of his office’s investigation. But he says he thinks it’s appropriate to get an outside review “in the spirit of open government” and “objectivity.”

A preliminary autopsy has shown Wilson died of natural causes. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office says a final autopsy report is still pending.
