NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A North Providence man who allegedly owned a malnourished dog that had to be euthanized is facing additional charges.

WPRI-TV (https://bit.ly/1UwAADI ) reports that 47-year-old Brian Kenney was arrested Wednesday and charged with failing to properly care for his dog.

Authorities say the dog was brought to the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals weighing just 37 pounds, and was euthanized Tuesday.

A RISPCA investigator says Kenney said the dog was abandoned in Johnston but authorities determined that Kenney was the dog’s owner.

RISPCA President Ernest Finocchio says a public outcry prompted authorities to return to Kenney’s home, where they found two more dogs they say haven’t been vaccinated. He is charged with two misdemeanors.
