SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - A rally outside the Santa Clara County jail has been planned to help bring an end to prison guard violence following an inmate’s death.

KNTV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1Urrtt0 ) families of inmates and community groups will gather outside the jail Friday.

The rally comes a week after 31-year-old Michael Tyree’s death and a day after three deputies were arrested on suspicion of murder, conspiracy and assault in the Aug. 27 death.

Sheriff Laurie Smith said Thursday Tyree’s body was found naked and covered in feces and vomit about an hour after correctional deputies had conducted a routine search of his cell.

Smith said she feels “disappointment and disgust” over findings that Jereh Lubrin, Matthew Farris and Rafael Rodriguez were involved in Tyree’s killing.

Attorneys for the deputies couldn’t be reached for comment.
