BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol will have all state troopers on duty for the Labor Day weekend.

Capt. Johnny Poulos tells The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1UwuFON) increased enforcement for the Highway Patrol’s holiday traffic-safety campaign starts at 6 p.m. Friday and ends at midnight Monday.

Several police and sheriff’s departments and marine patrol agencies also will be out across South Mississippi.

Poulos said state troopers will set up safety checkpoints to promote seatbelt use and to get impaired drivers off the roads. Troopers also will increase patrols on state highways and areas including Interstate 10, looking for drivers who are careless, reckless, speeding or driving distracted.
