RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Richard Sliwoski is retiring in October as director of the Virginia Department of General Services.

Sliwoski has led the agency for nearly a decade and has spent nearly four decades in public service.

General Services has more than 600 employees, four divisions and eight business units. The Capitol and Executive Mansion are among the more than 3 million square feet of facilities at the seat of government that are operated and maintained by the agency.

The agency says in a news release that a search is underway for Sliwoski’s successor.
