TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has asked people to limit their hiking for the remainder of Labor Day.

Sheriff’s spokesman Tom Peine says many people believed temperatures in the mid-90s were favorable for hiking, but they underestimated the combined effect that heat and humidity would have on them.

The sheriff’s department did three rescue operations Sunday involving hikers and noticed many other hikers who were showing signs of possible dehydration.
