HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - The number of Pennsylvanians who are paying for insurance this year under the federal health care law was nearly 398,000, a 16 percent drop from the number who enrolled.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said Tuesday that 80 percent of those, or about 320,000, were receiving federal tax subsidies to help with the cost.

The new figures cover through June 30.

The federal government reported in March that more than 472,000 Pennsylvanians had enrolled by the Feb. 15 deadline to have health insurance in 2015. However, it says it has ended 2015 coverage for hundreds of thousands nationally who didn’t produce sufficient documentation on their citizenship or immigration status.

About 317,000 Pennsylvanians signed up for coverage in 2014.
