CLEVELAND (AP) - Police say a 57-year-old Cleveland man was seriously injured when he was shot in the face in the city’s East Side neighborhood.

A hospital spokesman tells Northeast Ohio Media Group (https://bit.ly/1NeROF4 ) the man was listed in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center Monday afternoon.

The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police say two men were sitting in a car parked in front of a Lee Heights Boulevard home when the shooter fired a single shot through the window, striking the passenger in his face.

A 37-year-old Warrensville Heights man who was driving the vehicle fled from the gunman and took his friend to the hospital.

Police say the man didn’t recognize the shooter. Investigators were unable to speak to the victim due to the severity of his injuries.
