RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - The most recent executive director of the North Carolina Republican Party has a new job as U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson’s chief of staff.

Hudson announced Tuesday that Todd Poole is now his office’s top administrator.

Poole was chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx for five years and previously worked with Sen. Richard Burr when he was in the House of Representatives.

Poole left the executive director’s post at the end of August after two years. He served during the 2014 election cycle, when Republican Thom Tillis defeated Democratic U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan and the GOP retained its majorities in the General Assembly and the state’s congressional delegation.

Hudson is in his second term representing the 8th Congressional District, which covers all or parts of 12 south-central counties.
