TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - Interstate 70 in central Topeka has reopened after being closed in both directions as authorities investigated a suspicious package found on the highway.

Transportation Department spokeswoman Kim Qualls says the interstate was closed Tuesday at the request of the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The highway was reopened after the suspicious device was removed.

No other details were immediately available.
