GUADALUPE, Calif. (AP) - The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a man who was reported swept off a beach near Point Sal on the Santa Barbara County coast.

The effort was halted Monday night after searchers spent 22 hours covering a 135-square-mile area after the incident Sunday afternoon.

The report said the man submerged under water and did not come back to the surface.

The man was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue pants. He has not yet been identified.
