HERTFORD, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a Hertford woman died when her personal watercraft collided with a boat on a creek in Perquimans County.

Lt. Mark Rich with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission told local media that Brenda Hoepfner was killed Monday morning on Yeopim Creek.

Rich says Hoepfner’s husband was on a separate personal watercraft and was not hurt. The driver and passenger on the boat also weren’t injured.

Rich says the 67-year-old Hoepfner rounded a curve in the creek and collided with the 18-foot motorboat. Rich says alcohol was not a factor.
