JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The man police have been searching for in connection with the death of a Pearl man is now in custody.

WLBT-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1K7jjiY ) Jackson police said 21-year-old Walter Lee Young turned himself in Tuesday afternoon to Hinds County sheriff’s candidate Victor Mason, who helped surrender the man to authorities.

Young and 24-year-old Loren Blackwell face capital murder and motor vehicle theft charges in the death of 81-year-old Lee Kendrick of Pearl.

Kendrick was last seen Aug. 31. On Sept. 2, his body was found at the Cedarstone Apartments. He died from a single gunshot wound to the head. Kendrick’s stolen silver Buick was found last week in Jefferson County.

A judge denied bond Tuesday for Blackwell.

It was unknown if either suspect has an attorney who could comment.
